Miquon Woods

(NEW) Letter from the Camp Director

April 2013

Dear Campers and Parents,

Greetings from Miquon Day Camp – the campus is fresh and clean after the many spring rains and this beautiful weather, the campus is noisy with the sounds birds and squirrels, and is slowly growing green again! Two weeks ago, Paco Verin, our Woodlands Manager, worked with a crew to restore the creek bed along the office building, and yesterday, the pool was washed and painted.

Thank you for registering for camp this summer. Faith, Sarge and I can't wait to see you on the first day of camp! We have assembled an excited and experienced staff that is committed to making your camper's experience fun and safe.

The links below provide you with camp forms in PDF format to help you plan for the summer:

  • Medical Form – This does not require a doctor's visit and is due back to us by June 1st.
  • Camp Calendar – Our theme this summer is "Miquon Games" – using well-known and popular games, we plan to increase our summer zaniness with fun and learning through play. Pull out your jacks, marbles, bottle caps, jump ropes and your half balls and help us get ready for summer!
  • Camper to Counselor Letter – Because every child matters at Miquon, we have added this letter to help us get to know your camper and plan for his/her arrival. We would like this to come back to us by June 1st as well.
  • How It Works - For more specific family information about camp works, check out this set of basic family information. All the nuts and bolts are located here.

We are also excited to offer our Summer Vacation Care Program, a multi-age daycare program with coverage during the periods between camp and school schedules. Under the direction of DJ Giordano and his terrific team, each week provides time for creativity, play and learning, and ends with a fun, family event. Transportation is not provided.

Our Open House is scheduled for Sunday, June 16 at 1:30 PM. At this time you invited to visit us for an informal meet and greet with our staff, to swim (weather permitting), to drop off medical forms and to pick-up your camper's schedule, group list, camp bag and basic transportation information. Transportation information, other than route name and pick-up location, will be phoned to you on June 24th and 25th. If you are unable to attend, we will mail you the group schedule and list, and we will give your camper a camp bag on his/her first day of camp.

The best way to reach us between now and then is still via e-mail. We check our mailbox each day, Monday to Saturday.

Best wishes for a wonderful Springtime,

Cindy Fleming-Powell

August 2, 2012

Dear Miquon Camp Families -

Just a quick letter to update you on the end of this week.   This is our Carnival and Art Show Week. On Friday morning, our Counselors in Training have designed a kid-friendly selection of games for our campers that will run from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. In the afternoon. Each bunk will transform into an Art Gallery to display our campers' art projects, and campers are asked to wear their tye-dyed shirts. This is a great time for families to visit, walk through campus, enjoy the musical acts playing on the playbarn and spend the afternoon with your camper.

PARKING and DISMISSAL for FRIDAY'S PERFORMANCE:
Families who will be attending, are asked to park on campus, following the direction of our parking staff. You will be asked to sign-out your campers if you plan to take them home. Galleries open at 2:00 PM. After the show, your campers and you are asked to follow the direction of our parking staff to move out quickly and safely.

Dismissal for campers who are riding buses and vans home on Friday will be delayed. We expect to dismiss at 3:35 PM.
